Diamond Gives Inside Look into Industry Performance and Market Volatility at the Commercial Observer’s Fall Financing Forum

December 2, 2020

On November 17, Head of Structuring and Credit Kim Diamond participated in the Commercial Observer’s 4th Annual Fall Financing Forum in Washington, D.C. Diamond joined fellow real estate finance experts in the webinar, “Now What: An Inside Look at Industry Performance from Top Industry Participants with Ears to the Ground.” Moderated by Commercial Observer’s finance editor, Cathy Cunningham, the webinar panel also included Mack Real Estate Credit Strategies’ Kevin Cullinan, Citizens Bank’s Tim Leon, Pacific Western Bank’s Sonia Khanna and Trammell Crow Company’s Campbell Smith.

Diamond described Crescit as “very lucky performance-wise,” since the firm’s portfolio was weighted to asset classes more resilient to much of the stress experienced during the pandemic. She noted that since the end of August, Crescit has seen an uptick in inquiries as more and more businesses adjust and accept the reality that the disruption caused by the pandemic will not reverse any time soon. Diamond also offered insight into the coming year as the effects of the pandemic continue to loom. With banks offering attractive rates on base recourse, Diamond predicts more competition from the traditional lender financial institution side as the market begins to normalize. As a non-recourse lender, Crescit is continuing with a relatively unchanged approach, Diamond clarifies. “We are looking at the leverage and long-term prospects for the asset and market.”
